Maureen Frank’s best selling book
You Go Girlfriend is for women who want to know how to juggle career with life, and in particular motherhood. Maureen received a Telstra Business Woman of the Year Award in 2004 and was named a BRW magazine "Rising Star" in 2005 before starting Australia’s leading women’s empowerment company,
emberin.
She has successfully juggled a top corporate career in a predominantly male environment and motherhood. She is a single mum with beautiful twin daughters, one of whom is disabled. Maureen’s personal journey has been one of trials and great accomplishments. She believes in creating your own luck. In You Go Girlfriend she’ll show you how. Maureen takes you on a journey of self discovery and brings along a cheer squad of leading women who help with their advice and tips too.
Along the way they will cover many of the questions that aspiring business women are not sure who to ask: examining what success really means; dealing with difficult career road bumps and personal hardship - and how to cope; strategies for changing careers; risk taking; nannies and childcare; female saboteurs - how to identify and deal with them; the working mum's survival guide; taking time for yourself; mentors and role models and the framework for your own personal plan for success. The cheer squad includes Ros Kelly (former MP), Launa Inman (MD Target), Rhonda White (Founder, Terry White Pharmacy Group), Teresa Gambaro (former MP) and Elizabeth Broderick (Federal Sex Discrimination Commissioner).
This is the second edition of You Go Girlfriend with the first edition becoming a best seller of over 10,000 copies.
I really enjoyed the fact that Maureen was very open and honest about her personal experiences and the hurdles she has faced during her career what she did to overcome these. It was very relevant and may be applied at a personal and career level. Fantastic!
I enjoyed reading about Maureen's personal experiences. I liked that it made you look positively at the skills and traits you already possess and how you can build on these to be even better and more efficient, both at work and at home. I liked that elements could be applied to both a work environment and home environment.
I feel that I was able to gain a lot from this book both personally and professionally i.e. I felt more empowered in who I was as a women and was able to create a better understanding of my life, what I excelled at, how I could approach issues from a different angle, etc.
